On Sunday November 21st, the Seattle chapter held a cultural club.  Seven members and their families attended. We watched a Portuguese movie, while sampling Portuguese wines and dining Portuguese fare. The movie (“A Outra Margem”, directed by Luís Filipe Rocha), tells the story of Ricardo, a transvestite working in a Lisbon nightclub that returns to his hometown of Amarante for the first time in sixteen years, after a suicide attempt. It turned out to be a well-acted, poignant movie that dealt with lost loves, family and tolerance. While the movie provided food for thought, the real food included Portuguese cheese, codfish cakes, roasted chestnuts, marinated pork with clams and chocolate mousse. We would like to thank all who participated with special thanks going to Mariza Costa-Cabral for hosting this event and Luís Ramos and Susana Matamouros for providing movies for the adults and kids, respectively.
