Founded in 1998, the Portuguese American Post-graduate Society is an independent, non-profit organization, with no political affiliations and with the objective of promoting Portuguese students, researchers and entrepreneurs working in the United States to both their host and home countries.
Standing Mission
Over the years PAPS has been involved in several outreach actions that culminate in a yearly Forum taking place in the USA. Our mission is as such:
- To stimulate the development of strong relationships between the Portuguese postgraduate community in North America and universities and companies in Portugal.
- To promote the interaction between the Portuguese postgraduate community in North America and the Portuguese-American community.
- To strengthen the influence and representation of the Portuguese academic community in the North American society.
- To help and welcoming back the postgraduate community that returns to Portugal as well as guiding new prospective graduate students to study in the United States.
PAPS was founded in 1998 and currently has approximately 650 members.
