Applications are open (1st phase with an early bird fee until March, 31, 2012) for the Magellan MBA, an international full-time MBA program in Portugal offered by the Business School of the largest Portuguese University, EGP-UPBS University of Porto Business School.

The Magellan MBA is one of just a handful of MBA programs in Portugal or Spain to be double accredited internationally (by AMBA and EPAS/EFMD) and is part of the top-30 Worldwide MBA Rising Stars 2011. The program is designed to allow students develop general management skills along with a possible specialization in specific managerial areas. About 60% of the Magellan MBA students are international (2011/12), the largest rate recorded for an accredited MBA in Portugal. The development of soft skills in communication, leadership, team management and negotiation is also an important component of this program. EGP-UPBS is since 2011 on the top-100 worldwide Financial Times Ranking for Executive Education.

The Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program supports faculty exchange programs, in which academics from Portuguese universities can spend at least one term working in research and education at Carnegie Mellon to experience the culture of a top United States university. Carnegie Mellon professors are also given the opportunity to spend time in Portugal to engage in teaching and research activities with local institutions of higher education and research labs.

The goal of the faculty exchange program is to accelerate the adoption of best practices through cultural immersion giving the opportunity to adopt, adapt, propagate, and consolidate the best practices of top universities. 

They are accepting applications for extended stays at Carnegie Mellon University with ending dates before December 31, 2012.

Several free conference passes are available to the EURAXESS Links USA network members interested in attending the Society for Neuroscience Annual Conference in Washington, DC, 12-16 November 2011.
Some of the passes will allow access to the full annual meeting program, while some of them will provide access to the exhibit hall and poster sessions only.

The free passes are made available by the European Research Council, which will be hosting an exhibit booth at the conference (booth no. 937). Also present at the booth will be representatives of EURAXESS Links and EU Delegation to the United States.

No dia 15 de Dezembro de 2011, data da última conferência do ciclo O que é a América hoje?, cumprem-se 220 anos sobre a ratificação do Bill of Rights americano. A ideia estrutural deste ciclo de conferências é interrogar a que é que corresponde no mundo contemporâneo um país que, para muitos, é um mito, um modelo, o futuro, o que resta ainda desse ADN original, dessa primeira ideia do que significa ser americano. Em cada uma das suas dez sessões, o ciclo de conferências O que é a América hoje? explora uma série de conceitos essenciais do imaginário americano, tais como Liberdade, Tolerância, Oportunidade, Conhecimento, Vanguarda, Imperialismo, Diversidade, etc. Os oradores são personalidades portuguesas e americanas das mais variadas áreas de conhecimento: das artes à economia, passando pelo jornalismo, política, religião, informática e antropologia.

Since 2009, the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) has sponsored National Postdoc Appreciation Week to recognize the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research and discovery. Institutions from across the country and other parts of the world participate by holding special events. In 2010, this week was officially recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives. 

Portugueses com menos de 32 anos podem candidatar-se a posições na ONU, em áreas como Relações Públicas, Administração Empresarial, Estatística, Assuntos Parlamentares, etc., para preencher vagas de nível profissional (nível P2) no Secretariado da ONU em todo o mundo, nomeadamente nos departamentos de comunicação, administração, entre outros. A inclusão de Portugal no concurso, pela primeira vez desde 2006, deve-se ao facto de Portugal preencher apenas 9 das 12 a 21 posições de nível P2 a que tem direito.
As candidaturas devem ser entregues através do website careers.un.org até dia 10 de Setembro. Os pré-seleccionados serão convidados a participar num exame no dia 7 de Dezembro, a realizar em qualquer cidade que disponha de um centro oficial de exames da ONU.
O concurso está também aberto a cidadãos angolanos, brasileiros, guineenses e moçambicanos.
